Differently Abled

For the past couple of weeks, I've been slightly irritated at big kid's behavior. Maybe it's the juggling of kids, maybe he's just acting out, maybe he just doesn't "get it". I have to remind myself that somethings are "common sense" aren't really so "common" for big kid.

Social cues, spacial sense are all sometimes oblivious to big kid.  I have to constantly remind myself that he is different. He doesn't always "get" everything. And also remind myself to stop focusing on his shortcomings and focus on his strengths.  Big kid is funny, loving, empathetic, caring, charming and handsome. He's a superstar in his own right.  Today, I choose to highlight big kid's achievements and not focus on his challenges.  He is differently-abled. He does things differently.  Aren't we all, differently-abled, in a sense? Some of us march to the beat of our own drums. Some of us are robots and follow the crowd.  But there's one common area - we can all do things when we put our minds to it, just in different ways.

So I'm going to highlight today one of big kid's biggest achievements: being featured in Toys R Us Differently-Abled toys catalog for four years now.  He's appeared in the 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2011 catalogs.  (Someone dropped the ball in 2010 and it wasn't me! humph!)

He will always be our shining star, marching to the beat of his own drum.  Love you today, tomorrow, forever and ever. The End. Don't you ever forget it.
