Age of Aquarius

Every year, right after Christmas, I get into birthday planning mode. It all started about 15 years ago when hubby and I were dating. His birthday is in February (and my sister-in-law's is two days before his). Then big kid came along and now there were two birthdays to plan in February. Then 3 years ago, Pollito came along and now I plan three birthdays over the course of 2.5 weeks!  Wha???? Yep, my timeline gets tighter. But like Barney Stinson from How I Met Your Mother would say "Challenge accepted!"

This year, I will admit I have procrastinated a bit. You see this year big kid will be 10. TEN! That's like a milestone age, right? He's entering the tween stage and I'm not sure how much longer I'll have my little boy before his voice changes and starts checking out the girls lol. Do I give him his own party? Should he and pollito share a party? Dilemmas, dilemmas.

So I said, what the hell, I'll wing it. Pollito is still young enough to not care if he has a big party or not. So we are cutting him a cake at home with the family. We went to Party City and let him pick out his party decorations. So here's my 3 foot baby dragging a basket and carefully selecting his themed cups, plates, party favors, etc. Wished I would have taped this. All things Thomas the Train.

I kept asking him if the basket was heavy as he dragged it and he said "no thanks I'm good!" I swear he's like 18 trapped in a 3 year old body.

Big kid wasn't sure what he wanted to pick out yet for his party. He's also having a little shindig at his new school. The classroom is much smaller this time around so it should be manageable.

And if hubby is reading this, don't worry, I got you babe!!!!  Valentine's is on you though. I'm spent after planning all of your birthdays!!!

Next year, I think we'll postpone birthday celebrations until the summer and have a party in the park. The old school kind with balloons, music, food, cake the whole 9 yards. Pick our spot at 7am - first dibs lol. Typical Latino celebration and everyone's invited! No capacity limit at the park. I can hear Will Smith's "Summertime" playing in the background right now. Guess I'll have a head start planning now! Ok, in March.
